Jack Rhodes ('61): Jack is currently a Lecturer of Marketing and Director of Sales at the UW Foster School of Business. In 1961, Jack earned a Bachelors of Arts degree in Business Administration from UW and commissioned as a Second Lieutenant. He entered the Quartermaster Corps, where he served honorably for six years before moving on to successful careers working in FORTUNE 500 and entrepreneurial sectors. In 1999, he returned to UW to start a new career as an educator. He has built the Foster School of Business Sales Program into one of the top ten sales programs in the world. Over the last 15 years, he has connected students to professional networks, which has led to over 90% job placement. In 2016, Jack was inducted into the inaugural ROTC National Hall of Fame at Fort Knox, Kentucky.

2017

Colonel (Ret) Donald Wiethuechter ('50): COL Wiethuechter passed away at the age of 85 in Tacoma, Washington on April 15th, 2014.  He commissioned on June 10th, 1950 from UW Army ROTC and was soon deployed to Korea for 18 months. He served in the 51st Signal Battalion as a Platoon Leader and a Company Commander. He was later deployed during the Vietnam War as an Advisor to the Vietnamese Army. In the 1970s, COL Wiethuechter returned to Korea as a Battalion Commander. His distinguished military career includes tours in France, Germany, Turkey, Arizona, New Jersey, and Washington. He retired from the military in June 1979.  Though retired, COL Wiethuechter continued to selflessly serve others. He was actively involved and held various leadership roles in organizations such as the: Association of the US Army, Military Officers Association of America, Friends of the Fort Lewis Museum, and many others. He was also an alum with a passion for Husky Athletics, the History Department and the UW Army ROTC program. He was a founding member of the Tyee Sports Council and was the 2009 winner of the Frank Orrico Award given to an individual who demonstrates an uncommon level of dedication to Washington Athletics. He was a staple at football games, swim meets and men’s basketball games. He generously established endowment funds for Husky student-athletes, faculty members in the History Department, and Army cadets.
